creation care week

  • Point Loma Nazarene celebrates sustainability and the Earth each year during a week-long campaign known as “Creation Care Week.” Artists part of the Graphic Design department create installations around campus that invite students to interact and become educated about various topics which intertwine faith and climate change. Topics ranged from rising sea levels to greenwashing. Each student was assigned a specific topic in which they then had to create their unique installation. My installation was focused on fast fashion and its impact on both the Earth and clothing industry as a whole.

  • Installed by the campus’ coffee shop, the black and white typographic poster educated students about the general facts concerning this environmental issue. To the right of the poster was an interactive board with old clothes nailed down. Near it was a basket of fabrics with instructions telling students to sew on a unique piece in order to show how easy ‘repurposing’ clothing can be. After even just one day, the clothes had ben completely redone. There was also a specially designed flyer with a list of San Diego’s local thrift stores on the side table.
